		<description><![CDATA[Hello and welcome to a very much needed, blog 111. As you may have noticed, we've been very quiet over the past month, this is mainly due to exams and the fact that we've been more working on game balancing and our latest internal build! But now for what we have been up to in more detail.<br />

<div class="maintitle" width="100%"> Forums</div><br />
<br />
If you are one of our forum visitors you may of noticed that we have upgraded to IPB 3. This was due to the fact that IPB has stopped all support for IPB2 now and therefore we saw it as something we must do to make sure our forums are safe and secure. <br />
<div class="maintitle" width="100%"> Alpha 5</div><br />
<br />
As I said in the intro, we have been very busy with our latest build, Alpha 5. This build is our best so far with all infantry models in, updated rigs, weapons and more! We've been focusing a lot on our infantry balancing lately due to that side of the game being the most complete (including mapwise). More on the build and maps to come at a later date (sooner rather than later).<br />

<div class="maintitle" width="100%"> Atriedes Rifle</div><br />
<br />
Due to our current Atreides rifle being a very low poly textured model from the old team back in 2003, we've decided to finally make a new one! Eeevil has been busy designing and modelling this weapon, we are going through many ideas with how this should look and what fits with the House in general. At the moment we have the basic ideas down but the size and details of the weapon are still very much WIP.<br />

As you can see, it currently looks a little too big and bulky, not something a soldier wants to be carrying around in the deep desert.<br />

<div class="maintitle" width="100%"> Atreides Pistol</div><br />
<br />
The Atreides pistol (as seen in the 1980's cult film) has been something we haven't been sure on for awhile now. The design and main shape of the pistol are alright but apart from that is looks really bad and just lacking in every way. Our first attempt at remaking it kind of failed so Fz007 has been busy redesigning it and remodelling the gun. Thinking more about how pistol actually look and work has given us a lot more ideas on how it should be, just see for yourselves!<br />

As you can see, we've even made sure the iron sight is easy to look down through.<br />

<div class="maintitle" width="100%"> Harkonnen Jackhammer</div><br />
<br />
Eeevil has once again been busy working on weapons, this time he is texturing the Harkonnen shotgun, the Jackhammer. As you can see the texture is a early WIP but the just of it is there. More to come of this next update but for now, have some images!<br />

<div class="maintitle" width="100%"> Atreides Doors</div><br />
<br />
If you have been following the game, watching the videos, looking at the building images, you would of seen that we really are lacking any sort of doors. Well we are finally designing and putting them ingame. Due to a lot of infantry rape from vehicles in open buildings in testing games and something we have been meaning to put in, here is the Atreides building doors by LR01.<br />
<br />
LR01 also wanted to say a few words on the matter.<br />
<br />
"We've used dummy doors for the Atreides for awhile (and any other house, so they will be made to) and now we have decided to make one.<br />

Both the model and texture are made by myself, this is the first texture I have made. <br />

		<title>SCUD Storm Release 1.2</title>

		<description><![CDATA[SCUD Storm version 1.2 is finally here! After a lot of work, changes, new stuff being modelled and a new gametype going in we are finally able to release this to the public!<br />

<br />
1.2 is at last here with us and with a load of stuff new, changed and balanced. Here is the change log so you can all see what's new!<br />
<br />
-added MiniMap of C&C_Confrontation<br />
-fixed that you could enter your PT from both Base Zones<br />
-modified "Attack Icon" displayed in Aircrafts for better visibility of your current Bulletcount<br />
-added Reload & Heal Zones to Airfields so Aircrafts can Reload there and get healed. Healing is 10% per 3 seconds while Reloading is 1 Ammo per 3 seconds.<br />
-due to the new Heal & Reload Zones the Bug where Aircrafts reload after Exit and Re-Enter them is now fixed.<br />
-due to the shaders fix in 1.1 the wireframe technique for Building Dummies is no longer possible. Building Dummy Materials are now setup as Screens so they become a Ghost-like look.<br />
-Added 5 Oil Derricks to C&C_Confrontation.<br />
-Re-Enabled CTO(Capture The Oil)-Mode known from the old Version<br />
-fixed that PT-access didn't work after Character change<br />
-fixed that you lost your Flag on any Weapon changes (promotion, Strategy change ...)<br />
-added the new Raptor Model with a simple basic Texture made by LR01 for the USA None General<br />
-added Deploy/Undeploy Icons for the Outpost and switched from Q-Key to Upgrade_1 Key to link it to the Icon<br />
-fixed the Promotion Progress Bar that indicates how far the next Promotion is away.<br />
-added PowerBar to the HUD (on the left to the Radar and only visible for the TeamCommander) which indicates the available Power. This changes color to yellow as soon as the half capacity of 1 PowerPlant is left, changes to red as soon as available Power goes lower than 30% of 1 PowerPlant.<br />
-added Team Credits to the HUD (underneath the Team Upgrade Bar and only visible for the TeamCommander)<br />
-added queued Team Info Messages<br />
-added HUD adjustment to make the HUD fit any Screen Resolution<br />
-fixed HUD Team switch to show the correct HUD for each Team (i.e. after Team change the HUD didn't change so you could have had the USA HUD as China)<br />
-added Map 'C&C_Dust_Devil' made by TeamWolf + MiniMap<br />
-increased DrawDistance from 300-&gt;800<br />

We've also put together an FDS for those of you wishing to host a SCUD server! All you need to do is run the install and then you're good to go.<br />

<div class="maintitlecollapse" width="100%"> Capture the Oil</div><br />
<br />
Something many of you will remember about the old SCUD Storm are the Tech Oil Derricks that were around the maps and you could capture them to boost your team's econermy. We've now brought this back but as a cool new gametype!<br />
<br />
Basicly capturing Oil Derricks is always possible as soon as the 'Capture Buildings'-Upgrade was bought by the TeamCommander. After an Oil Derrick is captured by a Team it produces 200$ each 60 seconds for each Team Player and for Team Credits (used for Upgrades and Buildings...). Only the standard Infantry holds a Flag and is able to capture Buildings (Ranger for USA and Red Guard for China) the only exception is Black Lotus for China. Right now she also gets a Flag with the 'Capture Buildings'-Upgrade. The CTO-Mode can be activated by the Host at 'Victory Conditions'-Screen which means that a Team that holds all Oil Derricks wins the Game. The Capture Flag is now assigned to 'Upgrade_4 Key' and is only available when the upgrade was bought (of course) and the Player is NOT inside a Vehicle. After a Flag was used it has to reload 45 seconds which counts down on the Upgrade_4 Icon.<br />

<div class="maintitlecollapse" width="100%"> Power Bar</div><br />
<br />
The whole Bar represents the produced Power. After the first Power Plant was built the Power Bar is full because the whole produced power is also available. The Bar itself represents available Power i.e. you got 3 Power Plants and your Power Bar is 60% it means that you got 2 Power Plants producing Power that is not in use by any Building. As soon as you Power Level goes lower than 50% of 1 Power Plant the Bar changes its color to yellow. As soon as you Power Level goes lower than 30% of 1 Power Plant the Bar changes its color to red.<br />

<div class="maintitlecollapse" width="100%"> Ordos Chemical Trooper</div><br/><br/>

For awhile now we've been using the Ordos AA Trooper for all of our infantry units, we've now finally rigged up our Chemical Trooper and he's ingame!<br/><br/>

The Chemical Trooper carries a short-range poison gas projector. The projector fires a charge out to saturate an area, damaging any unit caught within its blast, though infantry will be far more affected.<br/><br/>

We finally have the Ordos AA launcher's 3rd person model rigged and ingame, here it is slightly too big on the AA Trooper's back!<br/><br/>

A lightly armored fast moving infantryman, the AA Trooper carries a small but sophisticated missile launcher, which enables it to track vehicles and aircraft out to a long range with ease. It does not deliver a very large warhead, so overall firepower is less than that of the Harkonnen Trooper.<br/><br/>

		<description><![CDATA[Hey there and welcome to blog 109! We've been working very hard over the last two weeks and this is what we have to show for it!<br />

<br />
For awhile now we have been talking about how Engineers would work, in terms of repairing, capturing and other things. Well we knew we'd use his case for one of these things and with some brainstorming with Eeevil we've come up with something we are all happy with.<br />

Now while you are hooked upto the building repairing it you won't be able to move or your movement will be very limiting (undecided) otherwise the connection will be lost and you will stop repairing the structure.<br />

<br />
Now we showed off the Harkonnen Light Infantry ingame in the last blog but he was untextured. Thanks to Kiory who modelled him in the first place, he's gone back over the model, cleaned up the mesh and textured this badass! So here is the Harkonnen Light Infantry and I think that Kiory has done an amazing job as always on his guy!<br />

With this guy now textured, we finally have all of our first release infantry finished which is a major milestone for us at Battle for Dune!<br />

<br />
Now LR01 has prepared something for this blog about normal map textures, so here he is!<br />
<br />
LR01: At some point, we already used normal mapping but we focused more on other stuff so left it out, now we took a look at them and decided to use it. With the "newest updates" on the engine it is possible to use it, of course it just a option.<br />
<br />

Seeing as we have been using the Renegade Nod soldier as a placeholder for the Harkonnen infantry, LR01 rigged up the model we have and put it ingame. Looks better than a renegade nod soldier there imo!<br />

Map blockers are something we've been thinking about a lot at BFD and we have come up with a new of doing them. Instead of having the old invisible walls for map boarders we now have signs telling you where the map boarder is, then two damage zones.<br />
<br />
The first damage zone is a weak one for more of a warning then the second is a much stronger one that will kill you very quickly, here is a video showing how it works.<br />

I've been working on Aprit Chard but now I've got to the stage where I need civillian house ruins for the map but I remember that we really don't have any. So I thought I would take this chance to have another go at building modelling. Now these shots are WIP and just need some details added then unwrapped and textured!<br />

LR01 has been very busy with the top floor of the construction yard has done an awesome job as usual, the top floor will be a building monitoring room where Atreides troops will make sure everything is going as planned, so there aren't two Barracks facing each other so troops can only go from one to the other!<br />

A great little free game released ages ago that takes place at the battle of Endor from Return of the Jedi. You are an X-Wing and you have to fight your way through waves of TIEs and Star Destroyers!<br />

LR01 has been very with modelling up the Atreides construction yard interior and it is really shaping up well. Here is the basement which is a welding room where most of the materials for buildings and and vehciles.<br />

For about a year now we have only had Atriedes and Ordos with infantry, but now we finally have the Harkonnen Infantry model done! Kiory from the Renegade X 40k team has kindly modelled this guy up for us so a major thanks goes out to him for his major help towards to the mod!<br />

		<description><![CDATA[Hey and welcome to blog 94, sorry for no blogs for the past two weeks and this blog won't be much like the others with pictures and stuff.<br />
<br />
Due to the fact that we are at the stage were almost all of the models are done and are just awaiting some internals, detail updates or maybe redos due to old versions just not looking as good as they could. We pretty much done have anything to show right now, this doesn't mean that we aren't working though.<br />
<br />
LR01 has been busy with getting a new build out and unwrapping models for our new texture artists. He has also been doing work on the Atreides building interiors while also doing some weapon modelling.<br />
<br />
Jens has been very busy with RL and hasn't had the time to do any coding but has told me that he should have free time this week and hopefully weeks to come so expect to see some nice script features in the near future!<br />
<br />
Seadust has been working on the Harkonnen building textures for the Construction Yard and Windtrap, these are the most complete Harkonnen buildings at the moment (the others need touching up and some parts fixing). <br />
<br />
Prototstar is making some nice terrain textures from what I hear and getting ready to texture the Harvester when LR01 has finished unwrapping it.<br />
<br />
And as for me? I have been slowing making progress on the map, Aprit Chard. I have been distracted by the new Call of Duty but now back on track and ready to work again.<br />
<br />
Sorry about no pictures and other stuff, but as you can see we are all pretty much working and just getting things finished up and adding them ingame the testing to make sure they work. So we're not dying or dead and expect to see a proper blog friday!]]></description>

The map is finally finished, after a lot of messing around with textures and other details (the texture I am still not 100% sure on) it has been done. All it needs it a few hedgehogs and we are good to go!<br />

The USA Barracks is the key to infantry. If this is destroyed higher class infantry cannot be purchased.<br />
<br />
<strong class='bbc'><div class="maintitlecollapse" width="100%"> Civilian Buildings</div></strong><br />
E! developed a way for us to make good use of civilian buildings. Each building is assigned a script which allows Level Edit users to specify how many people they want to allow to enter it.<br />
In the future there will be a function where the original building model will be replaced with a more "military" makeover.<br />

By far, the most important update to SCUD Storm to date. We all know from the previous version of SCUD Storm that the planes were awkward and highly unrealistic, being able to stop in mid-air and even reverse. E! however has fixed this, more work needs to be done to get it perfect but the tests so far are really encouraging.<br />

The name of a mod says a lot about it, what type of game it is, where it is set and what it is about. For sometime now just "Battle for Dune" felt like it had something missing, like it was just E:BFD but without the E:.<br />
<br />
So after much time and thought about weather we wanted this or not and how things would go after. No one can see the future and so we have chosen to alter the mod's name.<br />
<br />
So our new name will be, Battle for Dune: War of Assassins. We felt that this name is good and still very inkeeping with what we are doing and what we want to get across. For those of you who don't know, the War of Assassins is the war fought for control of Arrakis and Spice flow by the Guild.<br />
<br />

LR01 is busy with school and working on the Atreides Outpost.<br />

gtp0rong is busy working on some 2d stuff for us, but more about that later!<br />

In the last blog I said that work had begun on the Atreides Outpost interior, well LR01 has taken it over and has made some nice progess, check it out.<br />
